Dr. Dillip Kumar Parida's New Assignment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneshwar: All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bhubaneswar, Radiation Oncology Department HoD Dr. Dillip Kumar Parida has been assigned additional charge of Medical Superintendent of the national institute.

Dr. Dilip has served the AIIMS Bhubaneswar as the Professor & Head of the Department of Radiation Oncology for 9 years since 2013. He has also worked as an Assistant Professor at North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences, Shillong, India from 2004-2013 and at AIIMS Delhi from 1995-2004.

According to a media report in TOI, Dr. Parida will be in charge of the post till the filling up of the post on a regular basis or until further order. Dr. Parida has a vast experience in the field of medical service and was one of the founding faculties of AIIMS Bhubaneswar.

AIIMS Bhubaneswar Executive Director Prof (Dr) Ashutosh Biswas has congratulated Dr. Parida on the new assignment.

Additional Roles and Contributions

Meanwhile, he is also a visiting Scientist at the National Institute of Biomedical Innovation, Osaka Japan. Dr. Parida has trained in conformal radiation modalities at the University of Mannheim, Germany and visited Wollongong University, Australia to work on the application of Artificial Intelligence in Oncology.

He contributed to the establishment of a Regional Cancer Center at NEIGRIHMS, Shillong, a Govt. of India Tertiary Care Institute. Apart from establishing the population Based Cancer Registry for the state of Meghalaya, he is also a Member of the High Power Committee formed by PMO to study background radiation in the East Khasi Hill District, Meghalaya.

Moreover, he has worked as PI for North Eastern States in the Verbal Autopsy Project and the data was published in NEJM 2008 “Tobacco-related death in India,” following which central govt. was forced to ban smoking in public places.

He developed a new Treatment Protocol for treating Mycosis Fungoides, a cutaneous malignancy which was published in International Journals; Journal of Clinical & Experimental Dermatology, 2009 & Reports of Practical Oncology & Radiotherapy Journal 2014.

Dr. Parida was awarded Gold Medal Oration award from Sri Venkateswara Medical College, Tirupati.
