New Hostel for MBBS Students

A new hostel is being set up in Chandigarh Sector 48 for MBBS students. For this, the Chandigarh Administration has allocated the construction of this new hostel. The administration has also started the tender process for the Special mother and childcare centre at the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Sector 32.

The hostel will have a total of seven floors and has been designed in such a way that it will house 138 dormitories and 160 rooms for a total of 574 MBBS students. Along with this, there will also be a parking facility in the complex where about 180 cars can be easily parked.

According to the Times of India media news report, officials have said that 2.4 lakh square feet of space has been earmarked for the construction of the hostel. In this project, Rs 48 crore has been invested and is expected to be completed by February 2026.
