Andhra Pradesh health services show progress in 2025-26: Minister Satya Kumar Yadav

Vijayawada:In a bid to strengthen the state’s healthcare system,Andhra Pradeshhas reported notable improvements in public health services during the first six months of the 2025-26 financial year, Health and Family Welfare MinisterSatya Kumar Yadavsaid. Speaking at a review meeting with senior officials in Amaravati on October 30, 2025, the Minister credited the progress to rigorous monitoring and a new evaluation framework introduced in November 2024. According to the news reports, staff attendance across government hospitals improved remarkably—from 83% in April to 92% in September, averaging 87% over the six months. While nurses and paramedical staff maintained attendance rates above 90%, doctors averaged 82%, prompting the Minister to order targeted interventions. Outpatient (OP) services witnessed a significant boost, with over 4 crore consultations delivered—a growth of more than 20%. The average time per patient for OP services dropped sharply from 42 minutes to 26 minutes, made possible by a major expansion of registration infrastructure, reports theTNIE. The number of OP counters in General Government Hospitals (GGHs) rose from 80 in 2024 to 150 by September 2025, while ABHA registration counters increased from 53 to 116, significantly reducing wait times. East Godavari, Kadapa, and Tirupati districts emerged as the top performers in implementing National Health Mission (NHM) programmes, while Alluri Sitharama Raju (ASR), Guntur, and Srikakulam were identified as lagging districts.
