3 PGI Chandigarh Doctors Ranked Among Top 10 Researchers In Pediatric Critical Care

In the top 10 most influential centres in terms of research, AIIMS was at the ninth, while PGIMER was ranked 10th. While from the 10 most influential researchers category; three out of 10 from PGI Chandigarh were selected from the 2,176 researchers.

Chandigarh: 3 doctors from Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGI Chandigarh), have been ranked among the top 10 influential researchers by the International journal Pediatric Critical Care Medicine. The selection was done among the 2,176 researchers from which 3 out of 10 were from India and all three were from PGI Chandigarh.

Former Professor at PGI Chandigarh, Dr Sunit Singhi who was ranked number one; Dr Jayshree was ranked second and Dr Arun Bansal got the 10th rank in the list of top 10 influential researchers, reports IANS

Dr Singhi is currently the Chairman, Division of paediatrics at Medanta - The Medicity Hospital. Dr Arun Bansal currently works at the Advanced Pediatric Center at the institute and Dr Jayshree is a member of Paediatrics department.

The journal had ranked India among the developed countries for doing Randomised Controlled Trials (RCTs) on researches by doctors from across the globe. Previously, only developed countries, like the USA, bagged ranking in best researches segment.

In the recent issue of the journal, a paper highlighting the research collaboration in pediatric critical care -RCTs, was published. In the paper, they looked into publications from the year 1986 to 2018, wherein 415 RCTs from 377 centres in 43 countries by 2,176 researchers were included. The authors there categorically identified and ranked 10 most influential countries, wherein India is ranked second among the published RCT, third among the researchers and ninth among the number of times the RCTs were cited.

Speaking to the IANS about the proud moment, Dr Bansal and Dr Jayshree said, "We have been passionate about research and been doing this since many years, despite busy schedule, lack of resources and funding. We were surprised to see ourselves among the world famous researchers and big centres. It will inspire us to carry on the work. It would be a motivation for others to follow."
