George Tidmarsh, director of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER), has resigned amid serious concerns about his personal conduct, a spokesperson for the Department of Health and Human Services said. Tidmarsh was placed on administrative leave following the Office of the General Counsel and Office of the Inspector General were alerted to the concerns, the spokesperson told Reuters. Appointed in July, Tidmarsh oversaw one of the FDA’s largest divisions, which regulates both prescription and over-the-counter medications. "Secretary Kennedy expects the highest ethical standards from all individuals serving under his leadership and remains committed to full transparency," the HHS said.
