Jabalpur Incident

In an unfortunate incident, a 44-year-old surgeon attached to a government medical college and hospital allegedly committed suicide by slitting his throat with a surgery blade at his home in Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur city.

The incident took place on January 7 when the deceased's wife, who is also a doctor with a government hospital, got a call from her children informing her that the doctor had not come out of the toilet despite repeated knocks.

Soon, his wife, who was out for some work, reached home and the door was subsequently broken down where the doctor was found lying in a pool of blood inside the toilet of his residence in Dhanvantari Nagar locality, inspector Bhuneshwari Chouhan of Sanjeevni Nagar police station said.

As per a PTI report, officials said that prima facie, it appears that the doctor took the extreme step with the help of a surgery blade, which was recovered from the spot.

No suicide note was found. Meanwhile, the body has been sent for postmortem and a case has been registered.

According to a recent report by Dainik Bhaskar, the close ones of the deceased doctor, posted in the Surgery Department, are still confused as to why the doctor chose the painful method of putting an end to his life using a surgery blade.

The daily adds that before taking the alleged extreme step, the doctor had given a haircut to both his sons and later went for a shower inside the bathroom. As per his elder son, he heard the doctor scream inside the bathroom, however, he could not understand anything.

It has been further reported by Dainik Bhaskar that the doctor was financially unstable and his entire monthly salary was used in paying the EMI.

Police have taken the deceased's phone into custody and investigations are on in the case.
