Sutured While Bandage Inside: Activists Demand Action Against Doctors For Alleged Negligence

During the procedure, the doctor on-duty placed a bandage at the birth canal to stop the bleeding while another allegedly sutured the same along with the bandage still inside.

Thane: The women’s wing of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena recently demanded action for alleged negligence by the doctors of civic-run Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital at Kalwa, who allegedly forgot to remove a bandage placed inside the birth canal of a young woman who had delivered a child on May 6 in the same hospital.

A pregnant woman was admitted to the hospital on May 5 after she experienced severe labour pain and the next day, she delivered the child.

During the procedure, the doctor on-duty placed a bandage at the birth canal to stop the bleeding while another allegedly sutured the same along with the bandage still inside.

Recently, had reported a doctor and some nurses at a government hospital in Jharkhand’s Giridih were beaten up by relatives of three newborn babies who died in the hospital.

Three women had given birth to the babies two days ago at the hospital and the delivery was normal. A doctor had given an injection to all three babies noting their critical condition.

However, the relatives alleged that the babies’ condition worsened subsequent to the injection administered by the doctor.

Earlier, a doctor at the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) was attacked by a patient’s attendants, who under the influence of alcohol accused the doctor of negligence in treating the patient and manhandled him. Claiming to be supporters of a minister, two to three persons attacked the doctor, alleging negligence in the treatment of the injured patient. The eyewitnesses had informed that the patient’s relatives were in an inebriated condition.
