Yavatmal: In a shocking incident, a second year medico of Shri Vasantrao Naik Government Medical College (GMC) in Yavatmal allegedly tried to commit suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling with a rope in her hostel room. However, her condition is out of danger now.
Although the reason behind her suicide attempt is unclear, it is being discussed that this step may have been taken because the stress of the examination was unbearable.
According to TOI reports, it has been revealed that this is not the first time the girl had tried to take her life. The girl had made a similar suicide attempt earlier too after failing an exam.
The student is a 22-year-old second-year MBBS student and a resident of Nagpur. After failing to take her life from earlier suicide attempts, the student again tried to commit suicide on Thursday evening but was, fortunately, saved by her roommate.

On January 12, taking the opportunity of her being alone in the room as her roommate was outside for some reason, she tried to hang herself from the ceiling with a rope. Upon her roommate's arrival, she noticed that the student was hanging and immediately cut the rope and brought her down.
Following this, the roommate immediately alerted the hostel and medical college administration. The student was rushed to the ICU of the GMC and was under careful observation. However, her condition is stable now and strict confidentiality is being maintained in the hospital regarding the incident.
When asked about the matter, the college authorities maintained silence and ignored giving responses regarding the incident. When the daily contacted dean Dr Milind Fulpatil, he refused to divulge any information and said that he was on leave.
Later, police were informed of the situation and rushed to spot and investigated the matter. They also informed her parents who live in a rented house nearby the college after they reached Yavatmal a few weeks ago.
The case will be taken further officially after panchanama (A record of witness testimony, usually prepared by the police, during the investigation of a crime or after a death).
Additional SP Piyush Jagtap said “We will file an FIR under section 309 of IPC against the girl after the panchanama is done.”
PSO Nandkumar Pant is in charge of the case and will execute further investigation.
Moreover, the medical college was recently under the spotlight for violence against two doctors. team had earlier reported about the incident where two doctors were assaulted with a fruit cutter knife by a mentally unstable patient. The patient attacked a resident doctor, who was on rounds in the hospital. When the other doctor came to the rescue of his colleague, he was also attacked.
