Renowned Surgeon Dr S R Koulgud passes away at 93

Dharwad:Dr. Shesharao Rangarao (SR) Koulgud, a distinguished senior surgeon and respected member of the medical community,passed awayon Thursday at the age of 93. He breathed his last at aprivate hospitalin Dharwad, leaving behind a legacy of medical excellence. Dr Koulgud is survived by his wife, two sons, and a daughter. Born in Guledgud, a town in the Bagalkot district, Dr Koulgud had an early education in Pune before pursuing his medical studies at Seth GS Medical College, Pune, where he earned his Master of Surgery (MS) degree in 1961. His passion for teaching and mentoring medical students was not confined to Hubballi. He also served at several other prominent institutions, including medical colleges in Ballari, Mysuru, and SDM Medical College in Dharwad. After retiring from his academic career in 1997, Dr Koulgud continued to serve the community through private practice. He also became a visiting surgeon at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Dharwad.
