Private Hospitals Cannot Declare Dengue: Haryana Health Minister

Gurugram: Private Hospitals will not be allowed to declare/confirm a patient suffering from dengue, based on their own test results, a new directive issued by the Haryana Health Minister states.

Tribune reports that Vij stated no private hospital would be allowed to declare a person as suffering from dengue until it was confirmed by a laboratory of a civil hospital in Haryana. With the burden of testing and diagnosis, imminent of government hospitals, the minister also ordered all district hospitals to make elaborate arrangements for ‘ELISA’ test and set up machines for conducting dengue test and blood component separators by 31st May, 2017

Besides this, direction has been issued to set up special wards for treatment vector-borne diseases including dengue, malaria and chikungunya with special attention to hospitals in dengue prone areas such as Mewat

The minister also included the AYUSH department in creating awareness for dengue with AYUSH department being directed to organise special camps as per requirement in all districts for the prevention of malaria, dengue, chikungunya and vector-borne disease
