Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government's flagship healthcare treatment scheme Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY), has widened its reach after 554 super speciality hospitals from the private sector and 29 speciality and multi-speciality hospitals have been newly empanelled with the scheme with the approval of the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
During an internal review meeting chaired by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of State Health Assurance Society (SHAS) Dr Brundha D on Friday, it was stated that the newly included hospitals are from different districts of Odisha and neighbouring states.

The total count of newly emapanelled hospitals would become 583. Out of 554 private hospitals, 103 are in Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Delhi, Gujarat, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Telangana and Uttarakhand. The remaining 451 are in Cuttack, Khurda, Jajpur, Nabarangpur, Nayagarh, Balangir and Nuapada districts of Odisha.
Dr Brundha D directed the officials to speed up the process of empanelment of the approved hospitals. The CM had approved the 29 hospitals after technical and administrative scrutiny of the other private hospitals.
These hospitals would now be provided with iris, POS machines and master health cards for booking real-time data regarding the treatment of patients under BSKY. Joint CEO Subhananda Mohapatra suggested nodal officers to keep their contact with the empanelled hospitals outside the state via WhatsApp groups and video conferencing in order to resolve technical issues related to uploading documents of treatment and payment, as per a media report in the Odisha Bytes.
Further, Dr Brundha talked about the importance of proper scrutiny of papers as per the fixed rate prescribed for diagnostics and packages approved for surgery and other treatment, and the necessity of verifying the genuineness of claims before payment.
The issues raised by the private hospitals regarding the upgradation of BSKY software, quick resolution of technical issues and timely payment of the claims were also discussed in the meeting.
The Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana was launched on 15th August 2018 for the healthcare protection of economically marginalized families. Under this, all the State Government healthcare facilities provide cashless and free health services, with no requirement of documents. Further, annual health coverage of Rs. 5 lakh per annum (Rs. 10 lakh for women members) per family is provided in private empanelled hospitals within and outside the State & all Government Hospitals and premier health institutes outside the State.
