Nurse On Night Duty Allegedly Raped By Doctor At Moradabad Hospital, 3 Arrested

Moradabad: In a shocking incident, a 20-year-old nurse who was on night duty at the private hospital in Moradabad district of Uttar Pradesh was allegedly raped by a doctor after being held hostage. The main accused, along with a ward boy and another nurse, has been arrested in connection with the case.
According to the complaint filed by the victim’s father, the incident occurred around midnight on Sunday. Three people were arrested in the case, Superintendent of Police (Rural) Sandeep Kumar Meena said.
According to the PTI report, on Saturday evening, the victim (20) went to the hospital for her duty at 7 pm. She had been working there for the last seven months. Late night, another nurse, Mehnaz, asked her to meet Dr Shahnawaz in his room. When she refused to do so, Mehnaz and a ward boy, Junaid, forcibly took her to a room on the top floor of the hospital and locked it from the outside, Meena said.
Police reported that the victim, a nurse at a hospital in the Moradabad district, was on night duty Saturday when Dr Shahnawaz summoned her to his cabin. There, she was allegedly raped around midnight.

Later, Dr Shahnawaz entered the room and raped her after holding her hostage, Meena added. He also threatened to kill her and also hurled casteist slurs.
The police have arrested Mehnaz, Junaid, and Dr Shahnawaz in connection with the case. Following the complaint, Chief Medical Officer Dr Kuldeep Singh directed the health department to seal the hospital after an inspection on Sunday evening. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
