NEET SS 2025 Schedule Awaits Ministry Approval, Exam Delay Likely on Cards

New Delhi:With less than a month left for theNational Eligibility Entrance Test Super Speciality (NEET SS) 2025examination, the aspirants are desperately awaiting the schedule from the National Board of Examinations in Medical Examinations (NBEMS) for the Superspeciality entrance test, the official dates for which have still not been released. Sources at the National Medical Commission (NMC) have informed that the schedule is awaiting approval from the Union Health Ministry, and the exam date will be released officially soon after that. "The Commission is waiting for confirmation regarding this from the Ministry's side. However, there is a possibility that the exam might get delayed," an NMC official informed . NEET SS is a postgraduate super-speciality medical entrance exam, which is an eligibility and ranking test for admission to various DM, MCh, and DrNB super-speciality courses. Last year, the authorities did not conduct the NEET-SS exam, and theNEET-SS 2024exam was finally held on March 29 and 30, 2025. Soon after, counselling for this commenced. Now, candidates are waiting for the official notification specifying the date of the NEET SS 2025 examination. However, till now, there has been no update from NBEMS's side in this regard. Even though NBEMS has not released any notification regarding the exam so far, the tentative schedule for the upcoming NBEMS exams indicates that the NEET SS 2025 exam may tentatively be conducted next month. had earlier reported that the exam schedule mentioned that theNEET SS 2025exam is going to be held on November 7th and 8th, 2025. Therefore, less than a month is left for the NEET SS 2025, and despite this, there is no update regarding the commencement of the registration process yet. Due to this, the super-speciality aspirants are concerned and worried regarding the possibility of the entrance examination getting delayed. Many of the doctors have taken to social media, including X (formerly Twitter) expressing their anguish and asking the NBE and the Health Ministry to release the notification soon. "Neet ss tentative dates 7 November No prospectus or information regarding form filling process, no word on delay just waiting for announcement," wrote an X user. The National Chairperson of theUnited Doctors Front (UDF), Dr. Lakshya Mittal, has also urged the authorities to immediately release a detailed notification specifying the timeline for registration and examination. Speaking to , Dr. Mittal said, "We have noted the release of the NEET SS 2025 schedule byNBEMS, but the absence of clarity regarding the start of the registration process is indeed concerning for thousands of aspiring super-specialty aspirants. Given that the NEET SS examination was not conducted last year, any further delay will only add to the uncertainty and anxiety among postgraduates awaiting career progression." "We strongly urge the authorities to immediately issue a detailed notification with clear timelines for registration and examination to ensure transparency and prevent further disruption in the academic calendar," he added. "I think that it is very sad that the NEET SS schedule is getting delayed, and last year it did not happen because of this. As it is an era of superspecialisation and in every institute there are superspeciality seats and there is a lot of work and burden on institutes such as PGIMER, Chandigarh and G B Pant Hospital Delhi, where the first year NEET-SS candidates are working long long shifts and they need more fellow doctors. Also, people have left their jobs and now they are studying to work for NEET-SS. So, it is important that this examination gets place in time and gets conducted smoothly. Whenever such process is hampered, it becomes difficult for both the institute as well as the already working doctors," said Dr. Rohan Krishnan, Chief Patron of the Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA).
