Muzaffarnagar Gynaecologist attempts suicide on moving train

Muzaffarnagar:In a tragic incident, a gynaecologist who was travelling on a train to visit her hometown reportedly attemptedsuicideby slitting her wrist in the moving train on the Nauchandi Express. Shortly after the incident, she was found in critical condition and was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. Her current condition has not been undisclosed. The 36-year-old doctor is a gynaecologist at PGI Hospital, Saharanpur. While the exact reason behind her extreme step is uncertain, local news reports suggest that she attempted suicide because her husband reportedly harassed her and was cheating on her. When the train arrived at Muzaffarnagar railway station, fellow passengers witnessed her condition and alerted the railway police. Immediately acting on it, the officials disembarked her from the train. Following this, she was rushed to a nearby hospital and admitted for emergency treatment. As per aFree Press Journalmedia report, the doctor was married in 2003 in Rei village, under the jurisdiction of the Chhapar police station in Muzaffarnagar district. After alleged harassment and unfaithfulness from her husband, the doctor divorced him in 2014. She was living with her daughter. recently reported that a second-year pediatric resident doctor at Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences, Loni, reportedly committed suicide in his room. Post his demise, his colleagues have alleged that he was suffering from pressure due to an alleged extreme workload, toxic work culture, and constant humiliation by the head of the Pediatrics Department. Taking the allegations seriously and acting on the demands of the junior doctors, the administration of Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) has constituted an enquiry committee for investigation and suspended the HOD until the release of the enquiry report.
