Bhopal: Taking action against 1,106 doctors, who allegedly didn't fulfill their bond service duties, the Madhya Pradesh Medical Council (MPMC) has given them 15 days' time to respond or deposit money.
The council has issued notice to 1,106 doctors including 290 MBBS doctors, 396 PG diploma holders and 420 PG degree holders, the Registrar of the Medical Council Dr. RK Nigam informed the FPJ.
Tension concerning the bond service in Madhya Pradesh has been going on for quite some time. had earlier reported that around 80 MBBS graduates had approached the Supreme Court last year being aggrieved by the conditions that were imposed by the State Government for executing a bond for compulsory rural service.
They submitted before the Apex Court that the execution of bond was not compulsory for 2013 when they took admission. However, after listening to the contentions, the top court bench denied interfering and dismissed the plea.

As per the latest media report by the Free Press Journal, there are a total number of 1,106 doctors who are defaulters in fulfilling their bond service terms. The list includes MBBS doctors, PG degree and PG diploma holders.
Institute wise, at MGM, there are a total number of 286 defaulting doctors including 61 MBBS doctors, 131 PG diploma holders, and 94 PG degree holders. In case of GMC, Bhopal, there are 329 defaulting doctors in total and the list includes 88 MBBS doctors, 121 PG diploma holders and 120 PG degree holders.
SMCH, Rewa has 155 doctors who are yet to fulfill their bond service responsibilities. This list includes 25 MBBS doctors, 58 PG diploma holders and 72 PG degree holders. On the other hand, NSCB Jabalpur has a total number of 150 defaulting doctors including 51 MBBS doctors, 43 PG diploma holders, and 56 PG degree holders.
Besides, at GRMC Gwalior, there are a total number of 186 defaulting doctors including 65 MBBS doctors, 43 PG diploma holders and 78 PG degree holders.
While commenting on the issue of serving notice to the doctors, the registrar of the MP Medical Council told FPJ, "Medical Council has issued notices to 1,106 MBBS doctors for skipping services. Investigation was conducted couple of years back and found the factual position. After the report of investigation, notices have been served. Doctors have been given 15 days' time to reply or deposit money."
