MCI Further Extends Application Deadline For Starting DM, MCh Courses, Increase In Seats

                                    New Delhi: Through a recent notice, the Board of Governors in supersession of Medical Council of India (MCI BoG) has informed about the extension of the last date for submission of applications for starting or to increase in the admission capacity of Postgraduate Super-Speciality Courses, DM, MCh courses.
The deadline has been extended considering the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and difficulties being faced by the concerned authorities while applying for the same.
The notice issued by the MCI's Secretary-General Dr RK Vats and uploaded on the authority's official website clearly states that the last date of application of SS courses has now been extended to 30th September.
Keeping in view the COVID-19 Pandemic in which difficulties are being encountered by the prospective applicants for starting/increase of admission capacity of postgraduate super-speciality courses, it has been decided by the Board of Governors in Super-session of the Medical Council of India that as a one-time measure the last date by which complete applications for starting/increase of admission capacity in postgraduate super-speciality courses for the academic session 2021-22 will be received in the Office of the Board of Governors in supersession of the Medical Council of India shall be 30th September 2020 instead of 21st August 2020.
The said information has accordingly been forwarded to Additional Chief Secretary (Health / Medical Education) / Principal Secretary (Medical Education)/Secretary (Medical Education) of all State/UT Governments, Director of Medical Education of all State/UT Governments, Vice-Chancellor of all Health Universities and Dean/Principal of all Medical Colleges.

Recently, in order to equip and empower the young MBBS medicos, in the matter of handling pandemic situations, the Medical Council of India has now introduced a specific module on pandemic management in the MBBS curriculum.
