NEET PG Counselling 2021 Update

New Delhi: Through a recent notice, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has informed about debarring candidates for the Mop Up Round of NEET PG counselling 2021.

Clarifying on the Eligibility for participation in Mop Up Round of PG Counselling 2021, the MCC notified that it has been receiving many queries from candidates who are not able to participate in Fresh Mop Up Round of PG Counselling 2021 which started from 14.04.2022.

"In this regard, it is mentioned that as per the directions of Hon'ble Supreme Court of India in W.P © No. 174 of 2022 Anjana Chari Vs. MCC & Ors. the candidates joined in Round-2, whether through All India Quota or State Quota will not be eligible to participate in Fresh Mop Up Round and subsequent rounds of AIQ," stated the MCC notice.

Accordingly, MCC of DGHS requested the DMEs of states to provide the list of Round-2 joined candidates of their respective states which is enclosed as under. "Hence, the candidates of State Quota whose Roll No. is appearing in the list and the AIQ joined candidates are not eligible to participate in the ongoing Fresh Mop-Up Round," the MCC added.

Recently, alleging seat blocking in the NEET PG 2021 Counselling, a group of doctors approached the Supreme Court seeking permission for participating in the mop-up round of counselling with a free exit option.

Apart from the nod for appearing in the mop-up counselling, the doctors also sought directions upon the Medical Counselling Committee for providing details of the seats that were blocked but remained vacant in Round-2.

A bench of Justices DY Chandrachud, Surya Kant and Bela M Trivedi had directed holding of a special round of counselling for 146 fresh seats and allowed the students, who had joined the All India Quota (AIQ) or state quota in round two to participate in it.
