At around 10 pm, the scooter on which the duo were travelling lost control, causing it to overturn on the sixth-mile road of Pinangode and fall into a small ditch. Following the incident, the student suffered major head injuries and died on the spot, whereas her friend was admitted to the hospital with minor injuries, as reported by Kerala Kaumudi.

Locals, after noticing the accident, alerted the police, and her body was immediately shifted to Kalpetta Fatima Hospital for postmortem.
