Pune: The director of a private maternity hospital at Wakad has been booked based on an FIR lodged against him by a nurse of the hospital accusing him of sexually harassing, and attempting to strip her off.
As per a recent media report in TOI, the nurse who has been working in the hospital for the past few years was called in the director's consulting room during the night on November 7. In her complaint, the nurse alleged that the medical practitioner locked the room's door from inside and touched her inappropriately. He further attempted to forcefully remove her clothes off and outraged her modesty, she added in her complaint.
However, the nurse somehow managed to escape from his grasp.
She later narrated the ordeal to her family members and subsequently filed a complaint against the doctor.

Commenting on the incident, Sub-inspector of the Wakad police Sangita Gode told TOI, "According to her complaint, on November around 9.30 pm, the suspect who is the director of the hospital called her in his consulting room. He touched her improperly and also locked the room's door from inside."
The director has now been booked under section 354-B (assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to disrobe) and 354 (assault or use of criminal force to a woman to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
However, no arrests have been made yet. "We are yet to make any arrest in the case," Gode told the daily.
had earlier reported that a 28-year-old nurse attached to the civic hospital of Navsari had allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence, alleging harassment by her seniors in the suicide note she left behind.
