Kashmir: Senior Doctor Succumbs To COVID, DAK Demands Sponsored MBBS Seat For Ward

Kashmir: Marking another major loss in medical fraternity amidst the crisis, the Doctors' Association Kashmir (DAK) has asked the government to sponsor the MBBS course of a senior doctor attached to District Hospital Pulwama, who succumbed to COVID-19 after he contracted the fatal virus in his frontline battle against the disease.
The deceased doctor, a resident of the Pampore area of south Kashmir's Pulwama district, passed away at the SKIMS hospital in Soura on August 9.
As per a recent PTI report, the doctor had been treating COVID-19 patients for the past four months and in the process, contracted the virus. The doctor was tested positive for COVID-19 and was admitted to the hospital with bilateral pneumonia. He was later shifted to an intensive care unit as he could not maintain oxygen saturation and eventually passed away on Sunday.

Referring to the doctor as a martyr and stating that money can not compensate his death, DAK said "But at least the government can sponsor his child for an MBBS course which will serve as a tribute for his martyrdom." President DAK, Dr. Suhail Naik while extending his condolences stated that "Dr Ashraf was well known among the social circles and used to provide free consultations to the patients of his area who have all praise for his humble nature and professionalism."

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed his condolences to the family of the doctor. The Lt governor prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul of the great corona warrior and strength to the bereaved family members, an official spokesman stated. He added that Sinha also conveyed his deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the deceased.
