Jind: The healthcare services of Jind's Civil Hospital are at stake as no eye surgery has been performed in the last four years due to the non-appointment of the eye surgeon.
A mounting number of complaints have been received from the locals regarding the services of the Civil hospital in Jind. It has been reported that the hospital has no eye surgeon as well as not a single surgery has taken place in the last four years.
Despite apprising the state government of the issue at the hospital several times, no surgeons have been appointed so far and the government asked the patients to consult at private hospitals which usually cost around Rs 70,000 for single eye surgery.

Due to the shortage of eye specialist surgeons at the hospital, patients are forced to get treatment at private hospitals. The situation has come to a major backdrop for patients coming from the poor section of society, who can't afford to get treatments at private hospitals.
A large proportion of senior citizens in the district are affected by this situation and are seeking assistance from the local civil hospital for an eye surgeon.
Criticising the government, Local resident Rajkumar Goyal said "On the one hand, the Haryana government claims to be giving us better health facilities, while on the other hand, we don't have an eye specialist for the past four years. Short of specialists, Haryana's civil hospitals have become mere referral centres."

However, the matter would benefit the private hospitals the most financially since the previous surgeon at the hospital conducted 30-odd surgeries a month. Therefore, the total revenue would be given to the private hospitals which is a huge loss for the government. On alternate days, a surgeon was scheduled to be available, but it did not work.
While the locals criticise the government for not taking any initiative to solve the issue. A surgeon assured that all the pending facilities will resume soon at the hospital.
When asked about the matter, Jind civil surgeon Dr Manju Kadyan told TOI "The matter is in the knowledge of the higher authorities and we are trying to find doctors to carry out eye operations. All types of surgeries will be resumed."
