ICMR, Gandhi Medical College Join Hands For Critical Research Work

Hyderabad: The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and Gandhi Medical College doctors together will be working on four major research projects including on a topic related to the pandemic as well.
The researchers are studying the impact on babies born to Covid-19 infected mothers, which is being conducted under the ICMR's Networking project. The project would be led by the the Multidisciplinary Research Unit (MRDU) of the college along with researchers from other departments, reports The New Indian Express.

As part of the networking project itself, a collaborative study would be conducted on Deep Vein Thrombosis with Saha Institute in Kolkata.
MRDU Nodal Officer stated, "These projects with ICMR are first of their kind. Not only will these projects add to the infrastructure and experience of the institution, but they will also further Gandhi Medical College's name in the scientific community, bringing it on par with national institutes."
As per the media report in TNIE, the MRDU of the Gandhi Medical College have received two large-scale research grants of Rs 62 lakh and Rs 58 lakh from ICMR to conduct 'extra-mural projects' on two topics, which are Endo-metriosis and Vaginal Microbio.
The college officials stated that this critical research work is just one of the many achievements of MRDU. The scientist Madhavi Latha Manolla said, "Apart from those four, we also are guiding 35 in-house projects of which 10 have been completed and 17 are ongoing and eight are yet to start."
