Goa First To Offer Free D-Dimer, Interleukin 6 Test For Covid-19 Patients: State Health Minister

Panaji: Goa Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Monday conducted review meeting with officials of Health Department and Goa Medical College (GMC) Dr S M Bandekar to review arrangements at South Goa District Hospital.
In a tweet, he said, ''Conducted review meeting with officials from the Health Department & Dean GMC Dr Bandekar to review arrangements at South Goa District Hospital. Our team is working towards ensuring we are fully equipped & are able to manage rising cases in the state.

I have also instructed them to ensure all PHCs & CHCs are equipped with sufficient protective gears to ensure optimum safety while they interact with patients. 108 ambulances will also be stationed at ESI Hospital & SGDH for patients referred for CT Scan.
We shall be requisitioning additional staff at SGDH along with shuttle services for consultants and doctors to & from GMC.''
The Health Minister also said that Goa was the first state in the country to offer free of cost D-Dimer and Interleukin 6 tests at GMC for COVID-19 patients.
''These tests will be useful in monitoring the patient's progression to Covid-19 related cytokine storm & help in timely medical intervention to reduce fatality,'' he said.
