Four Doctors Face Suspension Due To Alleged Medical Negligence

Pulwama: Four Kashmir Doctors suspended due to alleged medical negligence that led to the death of a Municipal Committee employee on Tuesday. The suspension was taken into action by Director Health Services Kashmir after the death of a Municipal Committee employee on Monday in Pulwama.
As per a recent media report, an employee of municipal committee Pulwama passed away on 31st January due to a heart attack. However, after his death, his relatives claimed that when the patient was rushed to the hospital there was no doctor to attend to him immediately and alleged medical negligence against the facility. The kin of the patient demanded a thorough investigation.

The directorate also ordered for the constitution of a committee to inquire in the matter. "Pending inquiry regarding the death of Patient at District Hospital Pulwama, four doctors namely Dr. Hilal Ahmad, Medical Officer, Dr. Gulzar Ahmad, Medical officer, Dr. Alfer Nafie, Medical Officer and Dr. Mohd Ashraf, Medical Officer (NHM) are hereby put under suspension with immediate effect and are attached with Directorate of Health Services Kashmir," stated in the order issued by Director Health Services Kashmir.
Further , order read "The inquiry team of officers namely Dr Janziab Tanki, Dy Director Dentistry, Dr Kounsar Amin, Asstt. Director, Dr. Nasir Shamus, Consultant Medicine, JLNM Hospital Sgr and Hamid Sultan, Sr Assistant, DHSK at divisional level is hereby constituted to enquire the death of Patient at District Hospital Pulwama on 31 of Jan-2022 and constituted team is directed to submit the factual report to the undersigned within two days" .
Deputy Commissioner of Pulwama told Free Press Kashmir, " In case of medical negligence, the law would take its course and negligence shall be dealt in consonance with law. The administration is committed to the goal of quality, sustainable, and equitable health care for all. While admitting that the doctors have extended their services day and night under the constant pressure of patients during the pandemic, he assured that no deliberate negligence on part of the staff should be accepted. He has also warned miscreants against creating a fake news and false counter-narrative for spreading baseless rumors.
Earlier, taking serious note of the alleged medical negligence leading to the death of Mohammad Hussain Hafiz, an employee of municipal committee Pulwama, Deputy Commissioner Baseer Ul Haq Choudhary ordered the constitution of an inquiry committee for investigating the matter.
