Eminent Physician Dr Rajendra Nath Pathak passes away

Guwahati:The medical community ofAssammourns the loss of Dr Rajendra Nath Pathak, a distinguished physician celebrated for his decades of selfless service. He passed away at the age of 93 due to age-related ailments. His last rites were performed with solemn respect at Navagraha Crematorium, Guwahati. Dr Pathak’s medical journey began in 1959 when he earned his MBBS fromAssam Medical College, then affiliated with Gauhati University. In 1966, he completed his MD in Medicine. He began his academic career at Assam Medical College in Dibrugarh, nurturing generations of young doctors. In 1981, he joined Guwahati Medical College as an Associate Professor and rose to become Head of the Department of Medicine. Even after retirement, Dr Pathak remained actively engaged in patient care. He often treated patients free of charge, avoided unnecessary tests, and stayed late to ensure critically ill patients received care. Even in his advanced years, he visited patients at Pension Bhawan and his home, balancing personal health with community service. Dr Pathak's house in Rajgarh was not just a residence; it was a beacon of care, drawing patients from across Assam and beyond. There, he listened with patience, diagnosed with precision, and treated with kindness. Many left with not just prescriptions, but medicines donated by the doctor himself. He is survived by two sons, two daughters-in-law, grandchildren, and three brothers. Dr Pathak's life continues to inspire generations of medical professionals, embodying the true spirit of service, integrity, and humanity at the core of healthcare.
