Doctors Booked For Filming Patient On OT Table, Passing Lewd Comments

Thane: Police have booked three persons, including two doctors, from the powerloom town of Bhiwandi in a case of alleged sexual harassment of a medical practitioner while being operated upon at the hospital.
No arrests have been made so far in connection with the case, said an official from the Bhiwandi city police.
According to the complaint, the victim was operated by the accused doctors on May 12. While carrying out the operation the accused made a video and passed it on to his friend (who too has been booked in the case) through social media.
An offence under sections 354(A) (sexual harassment), 500 (defamation) and 509 (outraging modesty of a woman) under the IPC have been filed, said police, adding, relevant sections of the Information Technology Act too have been added in the case.
The complaint further mentioned that the medical personnel also passed lewd comments against the patient while she was on the operation table. The patient stated that she could hear the nurse and others passing lewd comments and clicking pictures.
Mid Day reports that incident took place operation theater of Prime Hospital in Bhiwandi on May 12, between 4 pm and 6.30 pm. The accused include two doctors and one nurse.
"The victim said she was undergoing an operation for a stomach ailment. Instead of covering her whole body and only keeping the part being operated upon open, she was covered from only waist up. The doctor took advantage of the situation and clicked photos of the woman's genitals." Manoj Patil, DCP, Bhiwandi, informed adding that the image was then circulated by the doctor to his colleagues
"We have registered a case against the three on a statement given by the victim's husband and will investigate the matter, and accordingly, take action against them," he informed Midday
The complaint was filed on May 15, said an official.
The matter is being currently investigated, said police.
