A woman from Pali has been allegedly harassed by her husband and in-laws by demanding Rs 20 lakh dowry so that the husband could open a hospital. Unable to tolerate it any longer, she filed a complaint of dowry harassment and domestic violence against him.

The woman is 34-years-old and her husband is a doctor who works in Pali, Rajasthan. She has alleged in her complaint that her husband has abandoned her and their nine-year-old daughter and demanded dowry from her.

TOI reports that she filed a complaint with the Woman's police and an FIR was lodged for further investigation.

The Story Behind her Dowry Harassment

In 2011, the woman married the doctor and after their wedding, she started living with her husband in Pali but soon her husband and in-laws started harassing her, demanding dowry.

She claimed that her in-laws harassed and taunted her even more after she gave birth to her girl in 2011. Later in 2014, she moved to Tanjavur in Tamil Nadu as her husband wanted to pursue higher education there. She found out in Tanjavur that her husband had an affair with another woman. When she objected to it, her husband harassed her and beat her often.

Unable to bear it, she moved to her parent's house in Paldi. She and her husband began living together in Ahmedabad in 2019, after they were forced to compromise.

Later, he again started demanding Rs 20 lakh so he could build a hospital in Ahmedabad or Pali. In 2020, she was abandoned along with her daughter by her husband after she refused to ask her parents for money. She finally filed a complaint against her husband and four others from his family.
