Delhi: UCMS Teachers Association Demands Solatium, Martyr Status For 3 Healthcare Workers Who Died Of COVID, Writes To CM

New Delhi: Demanding solatium and martyr status for the three healthcare workers who died of Covid-19, the University College of Medical Sciences (UCMS) Teachers' Association wrote to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and the Medical Director of Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital (GTBH).
In the letter dated 12.05.2021, the association mentioned that UCMS and GTBH lost three frontline healthcare professionals -Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (Community Medicine) Gayatri Sharma, Emergency Medical Officer G Ajay Kumar and Junior Resident Doctor Anas Mujahid due to the Covid-19 infection within a week.
UCMS is associated with GTB Hospital and it is affiliated with the University of Delhi.

"It is our state's highest responsibility to honour, respect and recognize their extraordinary effort and sacrifice," read the letter signed by Dr. Khan Amir Maroof, the President of UCMS Teachers' Association.
"We fervently appeal to you to provide an inclusive solatium and martyr status to healthcare workers at UCMS and GTBH complex who have given their life in service of the country," the letter also stated.

Further underlying the fact that loss of this kind cannot be compensated, the letter also mentioned in the end, "Even though no amount can fill the void in the affected families affected by this loss, but it would be our gesture that we stand with them and it will also motivate our frontline healthcare workers."
Sharing the letters on their Twitter handle, UCMS Teachers' Association wrote, "UCMS n GTBH lost 3 frontline healthcare workers to COVID in a week amidst #COVID19 crisis: Smt Gayatri Sharma(ANM), Sh Ajay Kumar(EMO, GTBH), Dr.Anas(Junior resident). V request hon'ble @ArvindKejriwal @SatyendarJain @msisodia to provide incl solatium n martyr status 2 them."
