DCI Asks Dental Colleges To Apply For Renewal Of Permission For BDS, MDS Courses

New Delhi: In a series of notices to dental colleges, the DCI has issued another notice to the principals and deans of the dental colleges of India directing them to apply for renewal of permission in Under Graduate/Post Graduate courses.
The colleges have been asked to apply for renewal six months prior to the expiry of the current academic session in the case of the UG course and six months before the beginning of the next academic session in case of MDS renewal.
Accordingly, all the dental colleges are directed to apply to DCI under intimation to GOI without any delay, along with all the requisite documents and fees, etc. so as to enable the Council to process the renewal in time as per DCI Regulation, 2006, failing which, the DCI shall neither inspect any college for renewal of BDS / MDS Courses in case of non-receipt of application from the concerned dental college. Also, the DCI will not be responsible for any delay and consequences thereof, the notice adds.
The notice by the DCI says "As per provision of the Dental Council of India (Establishment of New Dental Colleges. Opening of New or Higher Course of Study or Training and Increase of Admission Capacity in Dental Colleges) Regulations, 2006, the Institutions whose renewal for UG / PG Course are due, needs to apply for renewal of UG Course six months prior to the expiry of the current academic session and six months before the beginning of the next academic session in case of MDS renewal."
Recently, the DCI had issued a notice to the principals and deans of Dental Colleges to furnish BDS degree details of students pursuing MDS, before 31st March. In another notice, the DCI had asked the colleges to furnish their NAAC accreditation certificates to the council.
