Uttarakhand: A Uttrakhand-based BAMS practitioner has passed away and six others got injured after a speeding vehicle slammed into a wedding procession at Rampur Road in Haldwani on Monday night.
The incident took place on Monday night when during a wedding ceremony in Haldwani. The wedding procession was heading towards the banquet hall at Rampur road and the guests from the groom's side were all dancing on the road but suddenly a speeding pickup vehicle crashed into the procession injuring six people and killing the Ayurveda doctor.
According to a recent report by HT, the deceased has been identified as a 25-year-old BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) doctor, and he was a resident of Sanjay Nagar, Uttar Pradesh.

Throwing some light on the incident, Sanjay Kumar, the inspector of Haldwani police station told Hindustan Times, "Property dealer Upreti was getting married on Monday in Haldwani. The wedding was being held at a banquet hall at Rampur Road in Haldwani. His relatives had come from Meerut to attend his marriage. When his friends and family members were dancing in the wedding procession, a speeding pick up vehicle suddenly rammed into the procession".
After the accident, all the seven injured people were rushed to the Dr. Susheela Tiwari Government Hospital in Haldwani. As per the daily, when the victims were brought into the hospital the doctor was declared to be brought dead. The rest of the 6 injured were admitted to the hospital.
The driver of the pickup vehicle fled the scene after the accident and is still absconding, reports the daily. Police are investigating the case to nab the offender.
"The footage of CCTV cameras installed on Rampur Road is being scanned to identify the vehicle driver. We will arrest him soon" Kumar said.
