Anti-Tobacco Drive Reinforced By The Railway Police In Srinagar

The state police in Srinagar have collected more than 20 lakhs for fine on tobacco use in the public places
The Railway Police in Srinagar is on an anti-tobacco mission, driving the ban on use of cigarettes in trains, and railway stations. An impressive figure reported in a local Kashmir daily stated the fact the state police made 23,754 challans and collected Rs. 21.50 lakh as fine from the people in the state under section 4 of COTPA for smoking in public places during previous two years, between May 2013 and May 2015.
Also, reportedly, last month alone railway police issued 44 violation slips and collected Rs. 4000 as fine from the people under section 4 of COTPA act for smoking in trains and at railway stations, a police spokesman confirmed to online publication scoop news
