Ambernath Radiologist allegedly assaulted by husband over text message

Thane: In a shocking incident, a 46-year-old radiologist from Ambernath was allegedly brutally assaulted by her husband with a pestle at their residence in a fit of rage, police said. The accused has beenarrestedand produced before a local court on Thursday. The incident took place around 4 am onWednesday at the couple's residence in Ambernath West. The Shindes reside in Mohan Suburbia, an upscale housing society, in Ambernath. Dr Shinde operates three diagnostic centres -- one in Badlapur and two in Ambernath, while her husband manages her business. According to the PTI report, the man was angry because one of the woman's schoolmates sent her a complimentary message. He allegedly hit her on the head with a pestle around 4 am on Wednesday morning at their residence, said a police official. He was arrested late on Wednesday night under section 118(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) (voluntarily causing grievous hurt), said senior inspector Shabbir Sayyed. As per a media report inHT, a well-known radiologist who runs three diagnostic centres, one in Badlapur and two in Ambernath, was attacked by her husband after one of her male school friends commented “Nice DP” on her social media profile picture. The picture, taken during a recent school reunion trip to Matheran, is believed to have triggered the accused’s outburst. Although non-cognizable complaints had been filed earlier, she had chosen not to pursue the matter further for the sake of her children, she said. Speaking to HT, police said, it is believed that after hitting her on the head several times, he also tried to strangulate her, but hearing her screams, her two sons – 18 and 12 – rushed to her rescue. The accused continued to attack her until she started bleeding profusely, after which he stopped. A few days ago, she had gone out with friends, and when one of her schoolmates sent her a photograph later, her husband allegedly grew angry and, in a fit of rage, attacked her, she said.
