AIIMS Bilaspur Anaesthesiologist Removed On Allegations Of Sexually Assaulting Colleague

Bilaspur: In a shocking incident, a senior resident doctor of the department of anesthesiology at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bilaspur has been relieved of his duties and booked for allegedly molesting a female OT technician.
The doctor was expelled from the institution after an investigation by the AIIMS administration was initiated due to a complaint from the female OT technician who alleged that the doctor touched her inappropriately inside the operation theatre.

The incident came to light after the female technician complained about the matter to the executive director of AIIMS. The woman alleged that while she was performing her duties in the operating theatre, the doctor repeatedly touched her inappropriately and engaged in obscene behaviour.
According to the News Himachal news report, the AIIMS authorities promptly acted on the complaint by initiating an investigation into the matter. They interrogated the doctor and subsequently removed him from his position.
Meanwhile, the woman also approached the Mahila Police Station Bilaspur on Thursday and filed a complaint against the doctor. Following this, the police registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
A case under Sections 354 A (Sexual Harassment and punishment for sexual harassment) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the IPC has been registered, reports News 18.
Confirming the registration of the case, Superintendent of Police Bilaspur, Vivek Chahal, informed the daily that a detailed investigation is underway.
