7 MBBS Students Suspended From Chhattisgarh Medical College Over Alleged Ragging

Jagdalpur: Taking stringent action against seven MBBS students, the administration of Late Baliram Kashyap Memorial Govt Medical College has suspended them for the incident of alleged ragging.
These students, who are pursuing MBBS courses from the Government medical institute, have been suspended for one year on the basis of a complaint by junior students. Such punishment has been given to the students after a thorough inquiry by the Anti-Ragging Committee of the college.
Allegedly, the 2-19 batch students were ragged by their seniors on August 8 and after the incident one of the juniors approached the Anti-Ragging Central Committee. Based on the directions given by the Committee, the Anti-Ragging Committee of the college took necessary action.
The students against whom action was taken belong to 2016, 2017, and 2018 batches of the MBBS course, said Dr. U S Painkara, dean of the Late Baliram Kashyap Memorial Govt Medical College.

"The action was taken following a complaint by junior students," he told PTI.
Some students belonging to the 2019 batch were allegedly subjected to ragging by senior students, Dr. Painkara said.
One of the junior students filed an online complaint with the Anti-Ragging Central Committee in Delhi which asked the anti-ragging committee of the college to take necessary action, he added.
After an inquiry, seven students were suspended for one year.
No police complaint was made in connection with the incident, the dean said.
"Junior students were ill-treated. One of the victims mailed a complaint with anti-ragging central committee (Delhi) following which our college committee took the cognisance. The anti-ragging cell of the college conducted an inquiry into the incident and suspended seven accused students who found to be involved," he told the New Indian Express while commenting on the matter.
