33-year-old doctor killed in tragic car accident

Kottyam:A tragicaccidentclaimed the life of a 33-year-olddoctorafter his car plunged into a canal at Thottukadavu in Vaikom on Friday morning. The deceased has been identified as Dr Amal Suraj, a native of Ottapalam in Palakkad district, who was working at a private hospital in Kottarakkara, Kollam, according to a recent PTI report. Police have launched an investigation into the incident, officials said, reports theMetro Vartha. Investigators claimed the accident occurred in the early hours of the morning, likely going unnoticed in the darkness. Speaking toOnmanorama, the Police confirmed his identity based on the vehicle’s registration details. Initial investigation suggests that the accident may have occurred while he was travelling to Ottappalam from Kottarakkara. Police are examining CCTV footage from the route to determine the exact sequence of events. Authorities suspect that the doctor may have either dozed off while driving or taken a wrong turn, possibly after being misdirected by Google Maps.
