East Midnapore:In a tragic incident, a 32-year-oldanaesthetistworking at Contai Sub-divisional Hospital in East Midnapore was founddeadunder mysterious circumstances. According to her mother, an intravenous (IV) line was attached to her wrist when she was found lying dead in their rented room. While the exact cause behind her death is unclear, the police were informed that the doctor started feeling unwell during a surgery and was given medicine through an IV line. After returning home, she reportedly went straight to the bathroom. Moments later, the household help found her unconscious and bleeding near the bathroom door. The police have registered a case and launched an investigation to determine the circumstances leading to her death. Apart from working at the government hospital, the doctor was also associated with nursing homes in Tamluk and Mahishadal. The incident happened on Saturday morning. She first went to a nursing home in Mahishadal for a case, then to another in Tamluk for a surgery. Her health started to worsen while she was inside the operation theatre at the Tamluk nursing home. Police and family sources toldThe Telegraphthat "On Saturday morning, she left home around 7 am to visit a nursing home in Mahishadal. Later, she attended another private healthcare facility in Tamluk before returning home around 11 am. Her mother noticed her wrist had an intravenous (IV) channel attached, which is typically used to administer medicine." “She fell ill inside the washroom at home. However, she managed to come out but fell unconscious on the ground with bleeding through the intravenous channel. I called the neighbours and took my daughter to a local nursing home immediately,” said her mother. As her condition deteriorated rapidly, she was shifted to the Tamluk subdivisional hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead. According to her family members, they were unaware of any ailment that might have required her to use an intravenous channel. When the police were informed, they reached the hospital and sent her body for postmortem however, found no preliminary cause that could have led to her death. Police have registered a case of unnatural death, and Viscera samples were sent to the State Forensic Science Laboratory in Calcutta. Tamluk’s subdivisional police officer Afzal Abrar said, “We are trying to find out what actually caused her death.” Chief medical officer of health, Nandigram, Asit Kumar Dewan, said, "A two-member medical probe team has been formed to investigate her death." The owner of the Tamluk nursing home, Dr. Radhanath Pal, said, “She appeared normal in the morning but mentioned feeling unwell later. Despite that, her phone kept ringing frequently.
