Haryana: Following the increase of MBBS fees in the Government Medical Colleges in the state, now the Haryana government has also proposed to increase the fee for MBBS courses in private medical colleges from 10 lakh per annum to 12 lakh per annum. If the proposal is accepted, the fee in private medical colleges will rise by 24.5 percent.
The proposal has been put in the public domain for comments and suggestions from the General public and various stakeholders.
This increase in the amount is proposed at a time when the second round of MBBS counselling has already started.
Many of the Haryana medicos previously opposed the government's decision of increasing the fee in government medical colleges and the change in the bond policy. Now with the increase at private and self-aided medical colleges of the state, the medicos have yet again expressed their concerns over the move.

The Director General-cum-Secretary, Medical Education and Research, Amneet P Kumar issued a public notice on December 11th proposing a new fee structure for private medical colleges. The tuition fee including developmental charges has been fixed at Rs 12 lakh with an annual increase of 7.5 %. Previously the amount was 10 lakh with an annual increase of 5%.
The overall fee has been increased by 24.5% in the new proposal. Previously the MBBS students used to pay 43 Lakhs but now it has been increased to 53.68 lacs for all the years.
However, the college security fee which is refundable has not been increased and it is kept Rs 2 lacs. The library fees, sports, and medical charges and internet charges have also been kept the same as the last year. The hostel fee is also kept at Rs 75000 plus mess charges on an actual basis. The tuition fee for NRI students has not been increased as well.
The decision came following meetings where the concerned authorities and fee fixation committee considered the representations received from private medical colleges. As per the order, the meetings were held on 3.3.2020 and 4.12.2020.

Earlier, the Team reported that the Haryana Government issued a new policy for medical aspirants wanting to pursue MBBS courses at the government medical colleges in Haryana defining the new MBBS fee structure, liking it to government service after completion of the course. MBBS fee had been fixed to Rs 80,000 with a 10 percent rise per year and a new policy was framed that introduced a compulsory bond of Rs 10 lakh per annum which every candidate will have to deposit at the beginning of every year for the 4 and half year course duration. If the candidate serves in government service after the MBBS, then the government will pay off the loan, otherwise, the candidate will be responsible for paying the loan.
This effectively implied for those who do government service after MBBS the fees will start at Rs 80,000. However, for those who do not wish to do government service, the effective fees will be Rs 10 lakh per annum. The fees in public medical colleges were thus raised to Rs 10 lakh per year from around Rs 50,000 per year. With this, a student seeking admission in an MBBS course will have to pay almost Rs 40 lakh.

Now, the course fee for MBBS courses in Private Medical Colleges is also most likely to increase significantly with the same being proposed by the govt.
Many of the medicos are concerned with this increase in fee in both government and private medical colleges of the state and they have opposed the new fee structures in social media platforms.
